Chennai, June 23, 2025 — Tamil Nadu has emerged as a major manufacturing center for defense drones, UAV jammers, and other electronic warfare systems, following a surge in demand after Operation Sindoor.
🚀 Key Growth Drivers:
-
Post-operation spike in domestic drone procurement orders
-
Government policies such as the PLI scheme and drone-import ban
-
Initiatives mapping a global market share of 12.2% by 2030 (~$11 billion)
🏭 Local Champions & Infrastructure:
Firms like Dhaksha, Garuda Aerospace, Zuppa Geo Navigation, and Big Bang Boom report substantial order increases—Zuppa’s CEO said enquiries rose fivefold post-operation. The region now hosts four UAV testing/certification centers near Sriperumbudur, designed to reduce costs and speed up deployment.
Despite strong momentum, challenges include a weak local supply chain and the need for deeper collaboration with both defence forces and central/state governments.
