Elkhart city officials have initiated the largest infrastructure project in the city’s history—a $37 million sewer overflow tank and lift station on the southwest side. Crews have started building the 1.7-million-gallon system, part of the Oakland Project under the Elkhart Aspire initiative, aimed at improving water quality and managing stormwater more effectively.
